The Fundamentals program, which takes place June 7-8, 2018, is designed as an overview for new federal CJA practitioners. This program addresses topics which are essential to defending clients in federal criminal cases, including discovery issues, plea negotiations, sentencing guidelines issues, and more. A draft agenda is linked below.

The Winning Strategies Seminar, which is June 7-9, 2018, brings together a dynamic group of faculty who address a wide variety of topics specifically designed to keep panel attorneys and federal defender staff abreast of the most recent and important developments in federal criminal defense. The program includes both large plenary lectures as well as smaller "break-out" lectures, covering topics that meet the needs of the advanced practitioner and the less experienced attorney alike. Sessions will include such subjects as developing immigration trends, recurring issues in drug and gun cases, Supreme Court update, jury bias, sentencing, ethics and more. A draft agenda is linked below.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) accreditation for these programs will be sought in all applicable jurisdictions.

Materials for these programs will be available on www.fd.org.

Finally, as a reminder, we encourage all CJA practitioners to visit www.fd.org for the latest news and legal developments that impact our clients and to find helpful program materials from past seminars.
